Best Places to Visit in Spring
Madrid
First up on the list of best places to visit in spring is Madrid. And naturally, as Spain’s capital and largest city, Madrid has much to do and see.
Madrid is a cultural hub with numerous history & art museums and the hottest fashion. Not to mention the delicious Spanish cuisine, stunning sights, and dazzling charm you just can’t resist.
Plus, the weather is beautiful in the spring, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. Which is perfect for exploring the city.
So, if you’re looking for a Spanish adventure this spring, Madrid is your destination!
Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is one of the best places to visit in March in the USA, especially if you want to be more active during your spring adventure. The crowds are much smaller, and the spring weather brings the perfect temperatures for hiking.
Besides hiking the Rim trail and exploring the Grand Canyon Village, you can also take a helicopter tour to see the canyon from the air. What a view!
Quick tips for visiting the Grand Canyon in the Spring:
- Pack some warm clothes. Although spring brings warmer weather, expect to see snow. Due to the higher elevation, there’s a good chance the canyon will be covered with snow.
- However, on the flip side, bring items to keep the sun out of your face (a hat & sunglasses) and plenty of water. While it’s much cooler at night, the days are usually sunny. So, protect your skin & stay hydrated.
- Don’t feed the animals! The most common injuries people get in the Grand Canyon are animal bites due to giving them food. So save yourself some trouble & keep your food to yourself.
Hawaii
Is there ever a bad time to visit Hawaii? I think not. But if you’re wondering whether Hawaii is an option this Spring, here are some facts that might persuade you to explore the islands.
Firstly, March starts the season of the best times to visit Hawaii. This is because the cold winter months are behind the islands, and now hotter weather, warmer waters, and blooming flowers are in season. March & April are also the perfect times to go whale watching in Hawaii as the whales embark on their migration.
Not only are you catching the island before the super hot temperatures, but you’ll be ahead of the crowds. So, you get to explore the islands in peace without bumping into everyone.
Best Islands to Visit in Hawaii
While all the Hawaiian islands are gorgeous & perfect for exploring, I recommend this two the most.
Maui
As the second largest island in Hawaii, Maui has plenty of fun to get into. Hiking, whale watching, beach hopping, water sports, and much more await you in Maui.
Oahu
Next is the third largest island, Oahu. And just like with Maui, there are multiple adventurous activities to get involved in. Plus, the local food is out of this world, so catch a luau if you can!

Florida Keys
The Florida Keys is one of the best spring break destinations in the US. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. So, of course, if you visit, prepare yourself for crowds.
But if you can get past that, the Keys are definitely worth the visit!
Surrounded by the ocean, there are plenty of water sports, like snorkeling, scuba diving, or swimming. Or you can simply just relax on the beach, sipping a refreshing beverage.
When you’re not on the water, check out some of the wildlife in the area or explore the Ernest Hemingway Museum. Either way, there is so much to explore!
New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans is the place to be if you’re looking for some fun down south.
Although February is the month for the ever-so-popular Mardi Gras, March is the season of spring festivals. Music festivals, food festivals, and the Irish Channel Parade are just a little of what you can expect.
Not only is Nola an excellent place to spend your spring break, but it has out-of-this-world food. The city has terrific restaurants; you could easily make your entire trip a foodie vacation. If you happen to be visiting during the end of March, check out the Hogs for the Cause food festival, where you can get some of the best BBQ!
It goes without saying there is plenty of things to do in New Orleans.
New York City
NYC in March is an excellent option if traveling on a budget. It still happens to be in the slow season, so flight & hotel prices tend to be slightly lower. And, because the seasons are transitioning, some days might be warmer than others. So make sure to pack accordingly.
Additionally, as March is a transitional period for NYC, you get the best of both worlds. You’ll find winter activities like the Bryant Park Winter Village and spring activities like exploring the Orchid show in the NYC Botanical Gardens. Whether you choose winter or spring activities, there is plenty to do in NYC.
What to do in New York City:
- Catch a Broadway show
- Explore the NYC Museums
- Go ice skating at Bryant Park Winter Village or the Rockefeller Center.
- Watch a basketball game at March Madness

Morocco
The spring in Morocco is the perfect time to visit, gone with the winter & right before the mass of tourists starts pouring in. This is ideal for a more chill, relaxing spring break.
The cooler weather is great for adventurous activities like camping in the Sahara desert or riding on the back of a camel. Not to mention the bustling cities & culture to experience. Morocco is simply one of those magical places that you need to add to your bucket list.
Things to do in Morocco:
- Attend International Nomads Festival: A festival celebrating the nomadic way of life. Expect several food vendors, local musicians & dancers, arts, and more.
- Take a Guided Morocco Tour: Learn & see all Morocco has to offer on a guided tour.
- Visit the Blue Village of Chefchaouen: This iconic blue town is one of the most unique places to see in Morocco & definitely worth the visit.
Tokyo, Japan
Have you ever seen those beautiful photos of cherry blossoms in Japan? Gorgeous, right?
Well, you can see them in real life if you visit Japan in the spring.
Not only are March & April some of the best times to visit Tokyo, but several flower festivals take place to welcome spring. Bunkyo Plum Blossom Festival, Hina Matsuri, Kameido Tenjin Wisteria Festival, and Sakura Tulip Festa are just a few.
Also, suppose you’re an anime fan. In that case, you must attend the biggest anime event worldwide, Anime Japan, which happens every year in March.
Besides all the exciting events & festivals, Tokyo is also known for its art, culture, and delicious food. It’s one of those beautiful places that are simply a breath of fresh air.
São Paulo, Brazil
São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the best places to visit in March because of the gorgeous weather. Which is perfect for sightseeing, beach days, and beautiful night strolls.
Known as Brazil’s business and cultural hub, São Paulo is brimming with historical sites, skyscrapers, museums, and shopping opportunities. Plus, there are plenty of beaches, parks, and nature spots to explore. And you can’t forget to try the delicious cuisine! (Did you even visit if you didn’t try the food?)
Popular Attractions in São Paulo:
- Ibirapuera Park
- São Paulo Cathedral
- Theatro Municipal de São Paulo
- Avenida Paulista
- Botanical Gardens of São Paulo
- Museu Afro Brasil
- Mercado Municipal de São Paulo
Sydney, Australia
Unlike the other destinations on this list that are entering spring in March & April, Australia is welcoming the autumn season. This means the weather is a bit more pleasant, and the crowds are smaller (which means cheaper hotels & flights), making it an excellent destination for spring break.
Sydney is well known for its iconic landmarks, gorgeous beaches, and the largest coral reef system. So, depending on the type of trip you want, you can spend the afternoon snorkeling, watching the sunset on a cruise, or exploring popular sites like the Sydney Opera House.
No matter what you decide, Sydney, Australia, is an unforgettable experience you’ll be telling your grandkids about for years to come.
Let me know in the comments below which destination you want to travel to the most!
Wishing you happy & safe travels.
