The Most Epic Summer Vacation Destinations
Colombia
First on the list of summer vacation destinations is Colombia. Colombia is one of the most beautiful places in the world and is full of amazing things to do.
Trying delicious food, picking coffee beans, visiting gorgeous national parks, and exploring ancient ruins are just some of the many ways to experience Colombian culture.
This South American hotspot is an excellent choice for your summer trip.
Check out my post on Adventurous Things to do in Colombia.
Jamaica
Jamaica is one of the liveliest countries you’ll ever visit, and the summer is an exciting time to explore. This island is the spot for you if you’re looking for a good time.
You can expect thrilling festivals, live music, and sparkling beaches. Which makes Jamaica the perfect destination for solo & group travelers alike. Also, parents can soak up the sun on the beach while the kids play in the water.
Jamaica is also a diverse terrain that opens doors to many fun activities. Besides the live music & festivals, the island offers ziplining, hiking, biking, and snorkeling.

Florida
Florida has been my number-one vacation spot for years. With beautiful beaches, insane weather, delicious food, theme parks, and more, it’s no secret that Florida is one of the best summer vacation spots for families.
There is something for every traveler and the type of vibe you want for a summer vacation. If you want a relaxing holiday on the beach, go to Florida. Looking for somewhere fun to take the kids, Florida.
Whether you visit Orlando, Miami, the Key West, or anywhere on the Emerald Coast, you will have an unforgettable summer; I can tell you that much.
Hop on a Cruise
Another fantastic (& sometimes cheap) summer vacation idea is hopping on a cruise. Many people enjoy cruises as a summer vacation option because they’re all-inclusive, you’re on the water, and you visit some of the most gorgeous places.
Famous cruise lines like Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, and Royal Caribbean International offer cruises worldwide to places like the Bahamas, Mexico, and even Europe or Asia.
Plus, you can hop on a cruise any time of the year (not just during summer) and visit anywhere.
New York City
There isn’t another place quite like New York City, so naturally, it’s included on the list of top summer vacation destinations.
With the warmer weather comes longer days, outdoor activities, and a ‘let me out’ energy that’s been pent up all winter. Everybody is out! And because so much is going on, New York is a great city for solo, group, or family travel.
Things to do in New York City this summer:
- Catch an outdoor movie in the Hudson River Park.
- Visit the Bronx Zoo to see popular exhibits like the red pandas & tigers.
- Go on a food tour around the city.
- Check out the sharks in the New York Aquarium.

Explore US National Parks
If you’re looking for cool vacation places, exploring the US National Parks is the vacation for you. With over 400 national park sites in the US, from the east coast to the west, you have your pick of where you want to go.
Not only are these parks beautiful, but there are also super cheap (and sometimes free)! Some of the most popular US National Parks include:
- Yellowstone
- Yosemite
- Grand Cayon
- Rocky Mountain National Park
- Great Smoky Mountains National Park
- Zion National Park
- Glacier National Park
So, whether you hop in the car for an epic road trip to visit your favorite national parks or just one park, you can’t go wrong with exploring these natural places in the US.
Hawaii
Hawaii is such a magical place & a dream to explore any time of the year. The weather is perfect (even in the rainy season), and the landscape is simply beautiful. (It’s hard to believe this tropical paradise is right in our backyard).
While summer is the busiest time to visit Hawaii, there is so much to do, so you shouldn’t worry about too big of crowds. In fact, if you plan it right, you could very well miss the crowds altogether.
Travelers enjoy snorkeling, scuba diving, ziplining, and hiking in the rainforest. Or you can keep it simple & just relax on the beach.
Plus, you MUST try some local food when you’re not adventuring out. It’s so good, you might not want to come back home. And after a trip like this, I wouldn’t want to either.
Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is in its winter during the summer months in the US. For that reason, these months aren’t as popular as in the summer, but here’s what that means:
- As a result, prices for lodging and flights are lower! So, if you’re looking for cheap vacation ideas this summer, add Rio de Janerio to your list.
- And the sunny days make for great beach days. However, the nights and rainy days tend to be a bit chillier.
While Rio de Janeiro is most well-known for its beach life, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy while you’re there.
Here are some things to try or check out while you’re there:
- Visit Christ the Redeemer
- Take the cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain
- Explore the gorgeous plant life at the Jardim Botânico
- Take a day to visit Rio’s Museums
- Hike to waterfalls in the Tijuca Forest
